Getting Work Done

We're coming up to Christmas break, and there is not much time left in the first semester after that. It is the perfect time to get done all your work that hasn't been completed yet. I give NO PENALTIES for late work, so if you finish it, I will mark it.

To find out if you are missing any work, check using the student or parent login to ConnectEd on our website. Log in and any marks that have been reported as 0 are for work that was never done. If there is no mark entered, I might not yet have gotten around to marking it. So only worry about the 0s, not the no marks.

Let's all do our best to get on track before the busy January season.

Away for a While

As I have been telling students for the last couple weeks, I have a surgery coming up for my torn rotator cuff. This means I will miss over a week of school. I will, however, keep planning the classes and checking with your subs to be sure everyone is keeping up and is well-behaved. I emphasize this second point - behave in the same manner for the sub the same way you would for me. I always feel disappointed when I hear students were trying to get something past a substitute teacher.

That said, I will try to keep this blog updated from home, and may even stop in to check that everything is going as planned.

Back for Another Fine Year

We're off to the races in another school year. I have two high school classes this term, so this blog will help you keep up, stay on top of assignments, and check anything you've missed.

HIS10 - we have finished working with visual representations in the Social Sciences and should have turned in 9 questions related to maps, graphs, and timelines.

SCS30 - we are working with the Charter or Rights and looking for historical precedents related to these rights. We will continue this in he library today and be ready to present (3 PowerPoint slides - 1 per question) tommorrow.

Next Week (Mar.28-Apr.1)

Health 7:
You will have your Unit Test after a review. Your Daily Tracking Worksheets should be done. You should also be done the second part of the assignment (10 questions from last class) by test day.

** If you missed class Wed. or Thurs., get the notes and get working - it is your responsibilty to catch up for missed days.

Science 6: Our Unit Test will be Monday - study the questions from the review. There are no trick or surprise questions. If you can answer the Qs in the review you are ready.

In the lab today, we want to keep working with the diet and exercise information we discussed in class. You will need you record of three days of meals (everything you ate over 3 days) as well as the physical activities you have done.
You will also need your daily calorie requirements (how many calories you should be eating) to do some calculation.

Follow this link to input what you ate and to calculate how many calories it is. Be independent-minded while doing this - there is no absolute correct value for most things, but do you best to figure out roughly the numbers.

Next you can subtract your physical activities. Find the number of calories burned at this link.

You won't find every activity there, so be creative and find another source of data if this one doesn't work for you.

This will take some time - but for each day recorded, figure out how many calories you ate, how many you burned, and determine if this was more or less than what you should have each day.

I will check all the completed work next health class (Thursday for 7B, Monday for 7A).

Good luck!

We're coming up to a few different assignments and tests. First, check you have all five of the following topics in your notes:

1. Friendship for Adolescents
2. Communication Skills
3. Communication Styles
4. The Nature of Conflict
5. Preventing Conflict

If you have these, the first assignment is easy - have your notes checked for completeness.

Next, we have an open book quiz on this material - you need complete notes for this!

Last, you should have completed an assignment on your strengths and weaknesses related to preventing conflicts. This is due next class and unlike most other assignments, must be in on time.

So get your note in order, study some, and finish your assignment this week!
