Equinox Update

We are near the autumnal equinox (look it up if you don't know), so it's time for an update.

HEA 7: You should have completed your pair work assignments and gotten them returned. I know of some that are still out there and some students who need an individual copy. We'll get these wrapped up quickly.

Also our Healthy Walking project is going well. As long as we finish work in class time, we'll get even more kilometers under our belt.

HEA 6: We will continue talking about Influences on you Health this week and have a short assignment at the end. For now, keep track of your Physical Activity for our chart!

SCI 6: The tree classification day went great, so we'll move on to microscopic life shortly and wrap up our 'Diversity of Life' Unit in the next couple of weeks. Be prepared for more experiments and observations.

P.E. 6: We finish Soccer this week and move on to Volleyball. Lots of fun stuff ahead in gym class.

Upcoming Assignments

HEA 7: You will be working on your pair assignments related to decision-making. The questions will be ready to go next class, and finished work can be handed in when it is NEAT AND COMPLETE. Your 2 answers should be about one written page in length.

HEA 6 : We will begin next class looking at those influences that can effect your health. You have to complete the question related to Family and Cultural influence in your family for next class.

(Q: Think of 2 examples of each of the following (eating habits, physical activities, use of health services, and special observances) from your family and culture.)

SCI 6: We will start our tree field study on Friday. If the weather is good we'll collect samples. If not, I'll have some in class ready to use. Have your scissors and a collection bag ready for Friday a.m.

Health 7 Homework

There is homework for Grade 7 Health this week. We looked at how to make decisions (a six step list) and set goals (another six step list). Use these steps to complete the practice questions 1 and 2 from your notes. Just so we're clear, the questions are:

1. Go through the steps to decide whether you can miss a week of school to visit a friend in Paris. We’ll discuss the responses.

2. Your goal is to become a starter on the Junior basketball team. Go through the Goal Setting 6 step process, and we’ll discuss the responses.

(** You will probably only get to step 4 in both these cases since they are hypothetical - just for practice)
